Being in a family can be difficult as a parent or a child. For the parents, they are raising children, most often for the first time and with little guidance. Additionally, they may be finding their way with a partner, with whom then have never taken on such a challenging task. Things can be tricky and stressful to say the least.
When adult children were young, they didn’t have the skills and resources required to understand the family’s experience, how to navigate it, or support it.
The above is the landscape where many with the biggest hopes and best intentions find themselves disappointed, disconnected or injured. The inevitable mistakes and hurts that happen in families as they learn about each other’s needs unfortunately can leave lasting negative effects.
Come to Dr. Levy to work on getting a deeper understanding of some of these dynamics, how they were created, and how they may impair current and future closeness in this and other relationships. Learn to appreciate differences and find common connection.
